A Step-By-Step Guide to Instagram Marketing

February 6, by Katie Smith. Leave a Comment

Today I’ve got Nancy Grace from iDigic here talking about instagram for us indie business owners.

Instagram for Business
Attention marketers! Instagram is growing rapidly, and no matter what you think about the network, it continues to grow faster. Last year, it proved to be the most preferred marketing platform for thousands of businesses around the world. 2016 is only expected to get bigger for the network.

If you are prepared to promote your content in a full-filled way and attract a lot of followers, these tips should help:

Step 1: Create an Instagram account

Signing up with Instagram is easy. Download the app on your phone and fill in the required details to create an account for your business. Upload a profile picture, add a short bio, and give a link to your website.

Step 2: Set realistic goals

Instagram has over 400 million monthly users worldwide, so it’s easy to get excited when you sit down to set your goals. Make sure they are realistic. Gaining 10,000 followers in six months would be an ideal target for a startup. If you wish for some external help, get in touch with iDigic to learn how you can boost your following really fast.

Step 3: Create interesting photo and video content

Posting a series of images isn’t enough to attract a loyal following on the network. If you want to run a successful content marketing program, make sure to utilize the best tools and features available for Instagram. Maintain a nice balance between image and video posting.

Step 4: Use Hashtags

The potential of Instagram for business can be best leveraged when using hashtags. Having them in your posts ensures that your target audience will be able to find your products and services under one common window when they enter relevant hashtags (much like keywords). Do your own research online and get a list of the most popular hashtags relevant to your business and industry. You can include up to 30 hashtags, and come up with your own brand-related hashtag as well.

Step 5: Post when your target audiences are online

Timing is very important for Instagram marketing success. You get a higher visibility for your photos when you post them during peak hours i.e. when most of your target users are online. Look around the web for the peak social media traffic time related to your location and schedule your best content around those intervals. Schedugr and Latergram are two tools you can use to schedule your posts for higher visibility.

Step 6: Monitor your competitors

One of the easiest ways to connect with your target market is to steal them from your competitors. By stealing, we mean getting their attention. Comment on your competitor’s posts and follow people who are following them. The more you do this, the more are your chances of being found by your audience. When you visit your profile, they will get to know about your offers.

Step 7: Track your analytics

SimplyMeasured is a free tool that lets you find the engagement strength of your profile, which photos are performing well, your performance trend, and more.

Conclusion: We’ve pretty much covered the major aspects of Instagram marketing in this post. If you wish to add something, please share them in the comments.
