DIY Medical Face Shields You Can Make At Home

April 3, by Shellie Wilson. Leave a Comment

There has been a call out from hospitals that are running short on PPE to make medical shields and surgical masks. We have covered a few different articles this week on how to make your own medical items. Obviously and I hope this goes without saying, that if you can buy medical-grade supplies you should be. Why is everyone making their own masks and face shields? Because there are limited to NO stocks available out there. This is an alternative to protection. I am sure hospitals staff would rather be wearing medical-grade equipment but if they can’t so this is how we are helping them. You can join our facebook group with links to charities and hospitals who are in need of your help at this time.

This is one of the simplest designs available and it involved a hole punch and some laminator sheets. Simply add the elastic or cord to the top to create your medical face shield. Make sure you clean your shield every time you use it front and back!

Technochic has a great tutorial for something a little more detailed and more suitable for donating to hospital staff.

This one uses plastic hanger straps, zip ties and protector sheets. It looks more comfortable for short term use and definitely looks more stable on your head. A gust of wind wouldn’t be an issue as it seems to be secure on the head.

Here is another video tutorial

And another simple video from Hongkong News.
