March 7, 2020 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

Create TV is a public television channel focused on America’s most popular how-to programming.  For 15 years, the shows and hosts seen on Create have represented the nation’s premier lifestyle content, engaging annually with more than 44 million viewers interested in food, travel, home & garden, fitness and arts & crafts. This week we launched the Create Crafts Challenge 2020, the fourth year of a national video contest. This years’ Create Challenge will focus upon home crafters and professional artisans interested in winning the Grand Prize of hosting a web series on CreateTV.com!

Sponsored by American Public Television (APT), the Create Crafts Challenge runs March 2 – March 30, 2020. Entrants must submit online a short (three minutes or less), original video featuring their craft project, idea or tip. The contest will be judged by Create staff and a panel of public television hosts covering a broad range of crafts: Julie Fei-Fan Balzer (Make It Artsy), Eric Gorges (A Craftsman’s Legacy), Scott Phillips (American Woodshop), Peggy Sagers (Fit2Stitch), and Lena Skvagerson (Knit and Crochet Now!).

The panel will judge submissions based on demonstrated knowledge, skills and familiarity with the entrant’s chosen craft, ability to present ideas succinctly, overall telegenic appeal, uniqueness, and, production values. The Grand Prize includes $4,000 and production equipment valued at approximately $1,000 to finance and produce a web series of 10 or more additional three-minute videos to appear on CreateTV.com. Winners will be announced on or about May 4, 2020. An additional 17 prizes will be awarded, ranging from Create merchandise to the Second Prize of $1,000 cash plus production equipment valued at approximately $1,000 to finance and produce a three-episode web series for CreateTV.com. The contest is open to entrants 18 years and older.
