Hey guys, today I’m thrilled to have Arnaz Sunkersett  here to answer a few questions about her work! I love interviewing other fellow artists and getting to know them so I’m super happy to have Arnaz here today.

arnaz profile

Who are you? Where are you from?

Hi there! I’m Arnaz Sunkersett a jewelry artist and painter from exotic Goa, India. My Label, “Osofree” was launched in 2008, and is a brand that focuses on one of a kind and limited edition statement jewelry. The jewelry is created with my careful selection of colorful and unusual gemstones and other materials.I specialize in Statement Necklaces and Bold Gemstone Necklaces in bright colors which combine techniques ranging from wire wrapping, to braiding & weaving, etc.

Are you an Indie Artist/Do you sell you handmade items?

Yes! I sell my jewelry online in my etsy shop to women across the globe who dare to go bold with their jewelry and accessorizing ! I also supply my jewelry to designer boutiques here in Goa. I  attend local craft fairs and keep busy with custom orders as well. Since my pieces are one of a kind or limited edition i am constantly coming up with new creations all through the year, many of which are spontaneous and sometimes rather whimsical.

What does the term “Indie” mean to you?

The term “indie” to me means the freedom to be unique ! I am free to create exactly what my heart desires, I’m free to work when I’m Inspired and that brings freshness and the intrigue factor in my creations. Interestingly, my brand name “Osofree” was inspired by the sentiment of me being free with my expression and use of unique materials in my work.

What inspires you?

Nature!! Here in Goa i am surrounded by the most gorgeous beaches and my studio is situated on a hill over -looking the ocean! Can’t ask for a more inspiring location to work from! I am also inspired by cultures around the world, unique architecture, and one of my largest inspirations are natural occurring color combinations. And at the moment my adopted 2 month old kitten, Cocoa is  my best  companion and his innocence and inquisitiveness inspires me and puts a huge smile on my face!

Can you give us a small description of your crafting process?

The process of creating is entirely therapeutic for me. I sit at my desk and look for inspiration in my own material. I lay out different combinations of materials with the intention of creating a unique piece of jewelry.

Often when i experience blocks in creativity i take a long walk on the beach and practice yoga and long meditations and thats what seems to work well for me.  I usually never know what the end product will be but that is what helps keep my ideas fresh and keep my creativity flowing and more than anything else keeps me happy and satisfied as a designer.

And lastly, where can we find you on the web?
