This is a really interesting read by Brit+Co over on Levo.com. Brit+Co are sharing their top 10 tips for being more creative in JUST 10 minutes. These are simple things, so that’s perfect for most of us, right? They say:
We all lead busy lives. This doesn’t leave much time in our days to spend creatively, but your creative muscle is just like any other muscle—it needs to be exercised often or it starts to get tense. And we know we can’t let that happen! While you may not have time to sit for hours every day and create something new, you probably have at least 10 minutes to spare.
My favorite tip is “Stare at something green”. They say a study actually showed that people who took a peek at something green before a task were able to come up with more imaginative and creative answers than those who were shown other colors. Since the window right above my desk has evergreens right outside it, I guess I’m already ahead of the game!

Creativity is a fickle thing. One moment, you can be brimming with ideas and inspiration, and the next, you find yourself completely blocked and unable to come up with anything. Creative blocks can be frustrating and disheartening, but there are ways to get yourself back on track.
Here are 20 creativity prompts to help you break through your block:
Take a walk and focus on the colors around you. Come up with a piece of art or a design based on the colors you see.
Start with a random object and try to turn it into something else. For example, a pencil could become a tree, a cloud, or a spaceship.
Choose a word from a dictionary and create a visual representation of it.
Write a short story based on a dream you had.
Find a picture in a magazine and create a collage around it.
Take a break and do something completely different for 10 minutes, like playing a game or doing a puzzle. Then come back to your creative project.
Create something using only three colors.
Use a piece of music as inspiration for a painting, drawing, or sculpture.
Take a line from a song and create a piece of art based on it.
Create a character and write a short story about them.
Choose an emotion and create a piece of art that represents it.
Draw or paint a landscape from a place you have never been.
Use found objects to create a sculpture.
Create a piece of art using only words.
Choose an animal and create a piece of art inspired by it.
Write a poem about a place you love.
Choose a quote and create a piece of art based on it.
Create a design for a book cover.
Use a word generator to come up with random words, and then create a piece of art based on them.
Write a short story inspired by a photograph.
These prompts are just a starting point. The key is to experiment and try new things to get your creative juices flowing. Sometimes, taking a break and doing something completely different can help you come back to your project with fresh eyes and a new perspective. Remember, creativity is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the process, and have fun!
