Hey guys, Happy September!
Adult coloring books have become a popular trend in recent years, and it’s hard to miss their presence in bookstores and online retailers. As someone who has tried a few of these books myself, I have to say that my opinion is mixed.
On one hand, adult coloring books can be a great way to relax and destress. The simple act of coloring can be meditative, allowing you to focus on the present moment and take your mind off of your worries. Plus, it’s a creative outlet that doesn’t require any particular skill or talent, making it accessible to everyone. For those who are looking for a way to unwind after a long day, coloring books can be a great option.
On the other hand, I can’t help but feel that the popularity of adult coloring books has been overhyped. While they can be a fun and relaxing activity, they are by no means a replacement for true artistic expression. Coloring within the lines of pre-drawn designs can only provide so much satisfaction, and it can start to feel monotonous after a while. Furthermore, many adult coloring books seem to be marketed as a solution to more serious mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. While coloring can certainly be helpful in managing these conditions, it is important to seek out professional help if you are struggling with your mental health.
Overall, I think that adult coloring books can be a fun and enjoyable activity for those looking to relax and unwind. They should not be seen as a substitute for true artistic expression or a solution to serious mental health issues. It’s important to approach them with realistic expectations and use them as one tool in a larger self-care routine.
I love coloring so I think that if marketing coloring books for adults helps to inspire others to keep coloring then I’m all for it.
What about you?

Love them! When I was little my mom had a collection of colouring books from Troubador press like the Giants and Gnomes and Tales of Fantasy. I would admire the pictures but I was not allowed to draw in them. Glad to see the richness and detail of adult colouring books coming back in vogue.

I find it funny that all of a sudden I keep seeing all these articles about adult coloring. I’ve done it for years (as an adult) when I first started looking for adult books, I couldn’t find any. Now they seem to popping up everywhere. They are a lot more expensive so I may have to stick with what I’ve been buying. If money is not an issue then the adult ones are great !!
