Join the We Make Collective and Be Inspired

Today I wanted to introduce you to Fran, blogger at Fall For DIY and the fabulous artist behind the new We Make Collective. What is the We Make Collective? It is a community for learning how to be creative and be inspired, but I will let Fran tell you in her own words:

The benefits of taking materials and crafting them into something useful or beautiful are immeasurable. Not only can you surround yourself with objects that make you happy and that boost your creative confidence, the act of making is one that has been proven to help combat the effects of depression. Learning a new skill focuses your mind and repeating that skill improves your concentration. And lets not forget, generally speaking, doing something you enjoy is going to make you much happier!
That’s why it always surprises me when people tell me they’re not creative. It makes me want to dig further into their lives and ask (sometimes a little inappropriate) questions to find out more about them and prove them wrong. I think that sometimes people confused being well practiced in a skill with creativity and although linked, they are entirely different capabilities that are used in making. A skill is something you can learn but creativity is naturally a part of you already. It’s unique and personal. It reflects every moment of your life so far and absorbs your aspirations. We’re all creative in so many different ways and it’s learning how to harness your intuitive creativity that’s the key to success.
These are just some of the reasons I decided to start We Make Collective. After struggling to find my own creative path I want to help others find theirs.  We decided to do this through focused bi-monthly materials kits. We Make Kits are not designed to make one, three or even ten different items. They’re made to encourage creative freedom and explore each of our individual ideas of design. The kits are packed full of the very latest in DIY and craft materials you might be struggling to get your hands on elsewhere. We pride ourselves on the quality of the items, moving with but not relying on the latest trends to make up each box of treats. We source the materials from local and independent suppliers who themselves are discovering their own creative journey. When you purchase a subscription or one-off kit the We Make Collective bloggers will bring you an exclusive range of base knowledge tutorials, inspirational ideas and creative uses for every kit we send out. What you do with it is up to you!
We hope that providing a huge variety of inspiration and instruction will help nudge each person to create something they love and then share it with us! The site will include an area to share images and blog posts to show the rest of the collective what you have created with the kit and even how you did it! We want to create a community that shares inspirations and positive feedback that benefits everyone and we’ll be sharing your creations to over 600,000 followers on our social media channels just to spread the love a little bit further!
If you want to get involved you can get a sneak preview of the first materials kit and read more about the campaign here. Feel free to ask me any questions you have or make any suggestions to make the collective better. Let’s get making together!

On the Indie Crafts section of CraftGossip I like to support other indie artists by posting tips about running a handmade business, blogging and other helpful information. Once a week I try to feature handmade shops to showcase their work. I also like to share trendy, popular DIY's that I think are amazing and hope you do as well. If you are an Independent Artist or want to start a handmade business, this is the place to find resources. Or if you just love DIY's and everything crafty I hope you'll find some fun projects to make and be inspired by the artists I feature!
