Bough Houses – Rob Heard

I admit, I’ve always been fascinated by miniatures and dollhouses. But I would challenge anyone to not be fascinated by Rob Heard‘s Bough Houses. Each one is an intricate sculpture, an imaginary landscape crafted in wood. The scale of these is amazing–they can be over six feet tall! Heard draws inspiration from the natural world; each house is built from a branch cut or found locally. And they’re built with interaction in mind, with a workmanship strong enough to handle play. As they should, Heard built wooden play equipment before finding a love of smaller scale works.
