If you haven’t yet seen Rashad Alakbarov’s amazing art installations, then I strongly encourage you to take a moment and check these out. Painting with light has been a tagline for many artists, but I think Alakbarov, an artist from Azerbaijan, deserves it more than most. His paintings are literally created by shining light through various transparent and opaque objects suspended in the air like chandeliers. The one above was created for a “Fly to Baku” exhibit–and it creates a colorful landscape image entirely out of airplanes! You can more of his work on This is Colossal or in this facebook gallery. Unfortunately, Alakbarov doesn’t seem to have a central website, but there are plenty of images of his work to look at online.
