I’m really enjoying The Party Dress by Mary Adams! Her dresses are lovely and inspiring and her writing is very down to earth and enjoyable.
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t sewing in one way or another. My mother was an excellent seamstress, as was her mother. I presumed I learned from them and indirectly, I did. But my mother informed me that I learned the basics in school in Eugene, Oregon around the age of 12 in home economics. Over the years, sewing has taken me from Eugene to Portland and finally to New York City, where I have designed and created party and wedding dresses for almost thirty years. I specialize in one of a kind pieces for special occasions. I love working with transparent fabric and layering colors. My other favorite is working with 100% cotton prints and solids.
