The hand painted furniture of Swankety Swank

November 29, 2008 by Minnie Leave a Comment

I stumbled on this little shop called Swankety Swank in the Western Addition of San Francisco a few months ago with a friend. It is filled with amazing arts and crafts by local artists but the crowning glory is the owners hand painted furniture.

Yabette takes solid wood furniture and hand paints with in amazing colors and with amazingly creative and beautiful details.

She sells her large work on craigslist and her smaller sewn items on the Swankety Swank etsy shop. She has a blog where she announces the fashion and art shows she organizes.

Swankety Swank
1808 McAllister St. (at Baker) SF, CA 94115 Ph: 415 440 6996
Open Wednesday to Sunday 11am-6pm,
Closed Monday & Tuesday

There are more and more creative people opening shops to sell local handmade goods and we should all make an effort to support the creative and entrepreneurial people who have opened them!

Is there a local handmade shop in your town? Email me and tell me about it!

Independent Crafters Information

On the Indie Crafts section of CraftGossip I like to support other indie artists by posting tips about running a handmade business, blogging and other helpful information. Once a week I try to feature handmade shops to showcase their work. I also like to share trendy, popular DIY's that I think are amazing and hope you do as well. If you are an Independent Artist or want to start a handmade business, this is the place to find resources. Or if you just love DIY's and everything crafty I hope you'll find some fun projects to make and be inspired by the artists I feature!
