Hey guys! If you live around the Cook County, Minnesota area I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event on Memorial Day Weekend!
First Annual ‘Art Along the Lake’ Kicks Off in Cook County
Kick off the start of Memorial Day by spending the holiday weekend on Cook County’s North Shore. Folks in Grand Marais, Lutsen and Tofte have planned a special opening weekend for visitors, which includes gallery tours, concerts and hands-on classes that range from papermaking to making silver jewelry. The first annual “Art Along the Lake” gallery tour is a collaboration by 11 local art galleries that will offer special activities Saturday, May 23 – Sunday, May 24 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., as well as select evening events.
The “Art Along the Lake” gallery tour will provide tourists with a taste of the extensive variety of cultural art displayed in Cook County galleries. “Lake Superior, the BWCA, and the highest mountain peaks in Minnesota bring out the creative sides of our residents and visitors. This new event is a great way for us to share our artistic talents with our visitors,” says Linda Kratt, executive director of Visit Cook County.
Visitors can engage in creative, family-friendly hands-on activities, tour a gallery or watch master artisans at work. The weekend will be a celebration of all the senses, with evening music by the SplinterTones, Gordon Thorne, as well as duo Eric Frost and Bill Hansen, and more.
A few of the galleries featured include:
Kah-Nee-Tah Gallery in Lutsen is hosting silver jewelry making demonstrations.
Betsy Brown Studio & Galleries in Grand Marais is featuring live music, tickets sold at the door.
Sivertson Gallery in Grand Marais is sharing an oil painting demonstration by Plein Air artist Neil Sherman.
