My favorite Christmas tradition is sitting around the tree before all of the family parties on Christmas eve and letting my children open one of their gifts. The gift was always a new pair of pajamas for Christmas morning. At the age of 26 and 22 now, they still expect to open a gift, but have include my husband and I now. 🙂 I’m a fortunate parent to have both children at home.

When I was a little girl, Mom and I would set aside the first Saturday in November for making fruitcake. My job was to take all of the candied fruit and coat it in flour so that it would not sink to the bottom of the pan. It was a fun and messy task that I loved. Now every time I see candied fruit, I am taken back to the warm kitchen, smelling of spices and full of my mother’s voice laughing as the flour flew.

    Keeping Santa alive ..
Mom is Santa real? Having always been honest with my kids, I could not say no. I said, “Isn’t it nice to think someone out there does something nice just because? Is there one person who flies with reindeer gifting all in one night? Probably not..but have you ever done something for someone and told no one? Isn’t that being a secret Santa? Are you real? There’s your answer yes and no.”
