Not all indie crafters work in the real world. Kim Joon creates beautiful porcelain pieces–in the digital world. Using 3D software, he overlays the patterns and creates forms that look exactly like sculptures, each one delicate and fragile, almost too delicate to exist in the real world. This piece, called Romio and Juliet, is a perfect example. The two figures lay next to each other, hollow and broken, all of their delicate details precise and lifelike, patterned in fine china and images of the title pair. Joon’s work often features nods, not only towards the history of porcelain patterns, but also towards pop culture, mixing high art with modern art.
