Shin Tanaka is a graffiti, toy and paper artist.
Shin Tanaka is a Japanese graffiti artist and originator of the “custom paper toy project.” On his website, he provides free, limited-edition, printable templates for paper toys that anyone can build and customize. Tanaka has inspired many others to make similar paper toy projects, but his works are unique with their elegant lines and dominating presence. He has taken part in over 500 collaborations and partnerships with artists and brands around the world.
Contest Instructions
1. Download the blank template (select which one you want to use here).
2. Customize the template with your own designs — draw, paint, use photoshop — be creative!
3. Scan or color copy your customized template and save it in case you win!
4. Construct your figure and take a photo of the completed piece.
5. Upload the image of your completed figure using the link below. Please note that the deadline to upload your figure has been extended to March 26th.
6. Upload.
7. Winner’s will now be announced on the site by March 31st.
Actually, I can’t find the free templates (besides the ones for the contest) on Shin’s website. But you can find one at least in the new issue of Giant Robot! Oh, wait! I found some of them at another website here.
