Etsy just announced that they are opening up a new type of market, one where you can purchase craft supplies! They’ve already had a supply category, but now they are opening it up to include even more.
Etsy says: “Etsy Studio, the first new market we’ve built from the ground up since Etsy.com debuted in 2005, will be a global market dedicated to craft supplies that seamlessly combines inspiration and shopping in one place. When it launches this spring, visitors will be able to shop original DIY projects and tutorials alongside all of the supplies they need to bring those creative projects to life.
Craft supplies have long been a part of Etsy.com, and through conversations with our buyers and sellers, we’ve learned a lot about the unique challenges of selling and shopping for items within this category. We’ve applied their feedback to Etsy Studio to make it a delightful experience for both buyers and sellers. We’ve developed a whole new set of tools for categorizing and describing items and combined those with a new shopping experience tailored specifically to the needs of DIY shoppers.”
They’re planning on opening up Etsy Studio to buyers in April, until then you can learn more here: Big News from Etsy: A New Home for Craft Supplies, and New Support for Sellers at Etsy News Blog
