Chinese 3D modular origami is a must see for any fans of paper sculpture or origami. Unlike traditional Japanese origami, modular or block folding origami is created out of lots of little folded triangles, stacked together like Legos to create beautiful works of art. Francene Levinson has taken this concept in a different direction, based on her work in other materials and methods of sculpture. And the talented blogger of All Things Paper, Ann Martin, interviewed Francene recently about her attraction to the medium, her techniques, and more. The piece above, titled “Phoenix” is astonishing and the level of meticulous detail is incredible. You can see more of Levinson’s work and learn more about in the interview here at All Things Paper or on Levinson’s website.
