kumi yamashita

I’m sure you’ve seen thread art projects before: small nails are hammered into a wood board and thread is wrapped around them to create designs. The concept isn’t new, but Kumi Yamashita takes it to an entirely different level. The in-depth portraits are created using just those materials: a board, nails, and a single┬áthread, but they look more like incredibly detailed paintings. Personally, I would love to feature all of her different mediums and artworks, but today I’ll leave it at linking you to Yamashita’s site where you can see portraits made by distressing denim, rubbing over expired credit cards, and cast shadows.

Spotted on Enpundit and Tumblr.
