I haven’t made all my holiday gifts yet… I figure that people like gifts whether they are late or not so I wasn’t stressing too much this year about having things done in time.
Many years ago when I got my first sewing machine my sister and I were both unemployed (thanks tech bust of 2000!) and so we sat around sewing uncomplicated things like eye pillows and we sent them as presents to all our relatives. My Grandmother recently moved and lost hers! So I am going to make her a new one and one for my aunt as well. I couldn’t remember what we used to fill them up so I searched using Google and found this great tutorial from Sew, Mama Sew! for hot and cold therapy packs with lovely covers.
This are way cooler than what I was going to do so I’m pretty excited to use their tutorial and they include a very cute PDF to use for tags! I’m making a few changes like using lavender collected from my garden and using a different fabric texture on each side. I like to use velvet or soft cotton on one side and satin on the other.
The Sew, Mama Sew! tutorial include tags and instructions for 3 types of therapy bags, an eye pillow stuffed with flax seed for the freezer, a bag with buckwheat and peppermint oil for the freezer and bag with rice for the microwave.
